Description

A slender, light, ephemeral and abstract sculpture, it is a weightless ideogram. Absence and essence of light. It’s the emotion of an indirect light with an aesthetic poised between Scandinavian and Japanese design, two apparently distant cultures but, actually, very close. At the top, a thin metal open circle, almost a hook for fishermen of the soul. It was born from Davide Groppi and Giorgio Rava’s reflection on 20th century art and on Fausto Melotti’s “thin sculptures”, metaphysic matter invading space with a light and musical rhythm. Anima is a lamp to be used on the floor or on low furniture, to keep close to yourself or to be used to create depth. It is a lamp to be enjoyed for its essentiality and scenic power. Design Davide Groppi – Giorgio Rava / 2021 Anima has been selected by the ADI Permanent Design Observatory to be shown at the ADI Design Index 2022. AZ Award 2022 Archiproducts Design Award 2021

It all started in a small laboratory in the historical centre of the Italian town of Piacenza during the late 1980’s. Davide Groppi was inventing and producing his first lamps and decided simply to use his own name for the name of the company. Davide Groppi creations come about through the need to give life to something that is necessary or significant. The things that inspire these ideas are works of art, ready-made objects, magic, the desire to make things with his hands or simply the urge to play and have fun with light. Davide Groppi has been recognised for excellence by the press and received prestigious awards.
